Chick-fil-A Discount Gift Cards

Save on Chick-fil-A gift cards at Card Depot. Transfer into the app or use in restaurant. Instant delivery, no expiration, no fees.

How to use Chick-fil-A gift cards

Two ways: hand the card details over at a participating Chick-fil-A restaurant, or transfer the balance into the Chick-fil-A app, where it becomes a Chick-fil-A One Card.

To transfer it in the app: open the Chick-fil-A App, tap Scan at the bottom of the home screen, tap Add Funds under the QR code, choose Transfer a gift card, then enter the card number and PIN. Both arrive with your Card Depot order.

You can do the same on a computer. Sign in to your Chick-fil-A One account, then Account, then Payments and Subscriptions, then Add Funds, then Transfer a gift card.

For a general walkthrough, see our guide on how to use gift cards online.

The transfer only goes one way

Worth knowing before you do it. Once a card is loaded into your Chick-fil-A One Card, the balance lives in your account and nowhere else. Chick-fil-A states plainly that the original card will then correctly show a zero balance.

So transfer into the account you actually use. Getting the balance back out means contacting Chick-fil-A customer support and waiting up to three weeks for a card in the mail, which is not a thing you want to discover after the fact.

If you would rather not commit, just use the card details at the restaurant instead. It works either way.

Where it works, and where it does not

The card is good at participating Chick-fil-A restaurants in the United States and Puerto Rico. A US card does not work in Canada, and a Canadian card does not work in the US. Chick-fil-A runs those as separate programs.

The bigger catch is Express and licensed locations. Chick-fil-A states that most Express and licensed locations, meaning the ones inside airports, baseball stadiums, universities and hospitals, do not sell or accept gift cards. There is a published list of exceptions, around thirty of them, and it changes. If your nearest Chick-fil-A is inside a terminal or on a campus, check that list before you buy rather than after.

One more app quirk: the Chick-fil-A App is not supported in Puerto Rico. A physical card works there, but a balance transferred into the app does not.

You still earn points, but only if you ask

This is the detail almost nobody knows, and it is worth a few seconds at the counter.

Buying a gift card earns no Chick-fil-A One points. Chick-fil-A excludes gift card purchases from point progression, same as most rewards programs.

But spending it does earn points on qualifying purchases, provided you scan your Chick-fil-A One membership QR code at the time of the transaction. Pay with the card and forget to scan, and you leave the points behind.

So the sequence is: scan your membership code, then pay with the balance. Discount on the money, points on the meal.

Why a discount works on Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A is a habit rather than an occasion. Lunch runs, the drive-thru on the way home, feeding a car full of kids after practice. Individually small, and repeated all year.

That is the pattern where buying the balance ahead does real work. The saving lands once, at purchase, and then the balance draws down across however many visits it takes to spend. There is nothing to enter at the window and nothing to remember.

Check the current rate above and measure it against what your household actually spends there in a year, not what one order costs.

Worth noting the obvious: Chick-fil-A restaurants are open Monday through Saturday and closed on Sundays. They also close on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Your balance does not expire, so this is a planning matter rather than a problem.

How to check your Chick-fil-A gift card balance

There is no public balance-check page for Chick-fil-A. Two ways to check a card you have not loaded yet: call the automated gift card line at 1-888-232-1864, or ask at any participating restaurant.

Once the balance is in your Chick-fil-A One account, it shows in the app on the Scan screen, or online under Account, then Payments and Subscriptions.

Getting cash back on a leftover balance

Chick-fil-A honours state cash-back laws, and publishes the thresholds. California is under $15.00. Colorado is $5.00 or less. Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, Montana, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Puerto Rico and Washington are under $5.00. Texas is under $2.50. Rhode Island and Vermont are under $1.00. Massachusetts uses $5.00 or less for reloadable cards, or 10% of face value for non-reloadable.

The catch is which restaurant you last used it at. Chick-fil-A applies the law of the state or territory where your last redemption happened, not where you live. Beyond those thresholds the card is not redeemable for cash.

Requests go through Chick-fil-A's Gift Card Cash Back Request Form. Our guide to state laws requiring merchants to cash out gift cards explains how these rules work generally.

Stacking with Chick-fil-A offers

Chick-fil-A runs rewards, app offers and seasonal promotions. Those work on the price of the food. A discounted gift card works on the money you are paying with. Both apply to the same order, and the points scan above stacks on top of that.

For more on layering savings, see our guide on how to stack discount gift cards with store promotions.

Common questions

Can I use a Chick-fil-A gift card in the app?

Yes. Transfer it under Scan, then Add Funds, then Transfer a gift card, and it becomes your Chick-fil-A One Card balance.

Can I move the balance back out of the app?

Not yourself. You would need to contact Chick-fil-A customer support and allow up to three weeks for a replacement card in the mail. Treat the transfer as permanent.

Does it work at the Chick-fil-A in an airport or on a campus?

Usually not. Most Express and licensed locations neither sell nor accept gift cards. Chick-fil-A publishes a short list of exceptions, so check it if that is your regular location.

Do Chick-fil-A gift cards expire?

No. Chick-fil-A states their gift cards carry no expiration date and no fees. See our guide on whether gift cards expire.

Do I earn rewards points?

Not for buying the card. You do earn points when you spend it on qualifying purchases, but only if you scan your Chick-fil-A One membership QR code at the time of the transaction.

Can I use it in Canada?

No. A US card is good in the United States and Puerto Rico. Chick-fil-A Canada runs a separate gift card program.

Can I buy another gift card with it?

No. A Chick-fil-A One Card balance cannot be used to purchase other Chick-fil-A gift cards.

What if I lose the card details?

Chick-fil-A reviews these case by case through a Gift Card Replacement Form. There is no guaranteed replacement, so keep your code safe. Leaving it in your Card Depot account is the simplest option.
