Outdoorsy Discount Gift Cards
How to use Outdoorsy gift cards
Outdoorsy gift cards can be redeemed in the United States only towards authorized reservations at www.outdoorsy.com by entering your gift card information at checkout. The booking flow matters here, because Outdoorsy is a marketplace rather than a store. You find a vehicle, start a request, confirm driver details, pick any add-ons, then reach the payment step. The gift card field sits in that payment section, alongside promo and referral codes. Enter the number, hit apply, and the amount comes off the reservation total. You need an Outdoorsy account before you get that far.
You can use up to 10 gift cards on one booking
This is the detail that makes gift cards workable for RV rentals specifically. Outdoorsy allows up to 10 gift cards to be applied at a single checkout. It matters because gift card denominations are fixed and rental totals are not. A week in a campervan does not come to a round number, and it is usually well north of any single card. Being able to stack ten of them means you can build most of a trip out of discounted balance rather than being capped at one card's worth. So if you are planning a trip, buy the cards to suit the trip rather than trying to find one card that covers it.
The gift card goes in before the host says yes
Worth understanding the sequence. You enter payment, including any gift cards, and submit. The request then goes to the host, who has 24 hours to accept or decline, unless the listing has Instant Book enabled, in which case it is automatic. So payment details are entered before approval, not after. Outdoorsy does not publish what happens to applied gift card value if a host declines a request, so if that happens, contact Outdoorsy support rather than assuming. Two other things about the payment step: bookings made more than 30 days ahead are split, with half taken at booking and half automatically 30 days before the trip. And Outdoorsy does not accept prepaid credit cards as the payment method on file.
It also works at Outdoorsy's own properties
Beyond vehicle rentals, Outdoorsy gift cards can be redeemed for a campsite or accommodation reservation at Outdoorsy's three signature properties: Outdoorsy Bayfield in southwest Colorado, Outdoorsy Yosemite in California, and Outdoorsy Texas Hill Country. That widens what the balance is good for. If the RV plan changes, the card is not stranded.
Why a discount works on an RV rental
This is a large, planned, single purchase, which is the opposite of the coffee run but works for the same reason from the other direction. A rental runs into the hundreds or thousands, so a percentage off the payment method is a real number rather than loose change. It is also a purchase people plan weeks or months ahead, which is exactly the window you need. Buy the balance when you start planning the trip, apply it when you book. Check the current rate above and multiply it against your actual trip budget.
How to check your Outdoorsy gift card balance
Check it at the Outdoorsy balance page, or by applying the card at checkout, which shows it against your reservation total. You can also contact the card issuer at [email protected] or 866-986-4119, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm Central. Outdoorsy notes that any balance shown online is an estimate. For other brands, our guide on how to check any gift card balance covers the steps for every major retailer.
Getting cash back on a small leftover balance
If the card has a remaining balance of $10.00 or less, you can request a refund by calling 866-986-4119 or emailing [email protected]. Beyond that, the card is not redeemable for cash except where law requires it. Our guide to state laws requiring merchants to cash out gift cards covers which states have those rules and at what amount.
